Radix Puerariae,Radix Rehmanniae,Radix ASTRAGAIL,Radix Trichosanthis,Stylus Zeae maydis,

DESCPRIPTION
Black coated concentrated pills,sweet,sour and slightly astringent in taste.

ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS
Tonify the kidney,nourish the yin,replenish qi and engender fluid,indicated for wasting-thirst(diabetes) due to dual deficiency of qi and yin
manifested as polydipsia,polyuria and polyphagia,emaciation,tiredness,lack of strength,poor sleep,lumbago and type 2 diabetes with the above
mentioned symptoms.

Per 10 Pills weight 2.5g(contains glibenciamide 2.5 mg).30g,120 pills packing.

USAGE AND DOSAGE
For oral use before meals,5-10 pills twice or thrice daily or by medical ordor.

ADVERSE REACTION
Literature showed the main adverse reaction
(1) hypoglycemia due to delayed meal,severe physicial activity,over dose of medicine and combination with some medicines leading to occurrence of
hypoglycemia.In case the occurrence of hypoglycemia,diet or sugar was given to relieve hypoglycemia.The severe hypoglycemia also occurred in
aged,debility and over dose of medicine or cases with hepatorenal insufficiency.
(2)Medicinal eruption occurred occasionally.
(3)Mild nausea and vomiting occureed occasionally.
(4)Alopecia occurred rarely.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
1.Contraindicated for pregnant women and breast feeding women.
2. Contraindicated for type 1 diabetes;type 2 diabetes accompanied with ketoacidosis,coma;severe burn,infection,severe trauma and major
operation.
3. Contraindicated for cases with hepatic and renal insufficiency,allergy of sulfonamides and leucopenia.

Warning
1.The product is contained with glibenciamide.It is used in accordance with the recipe strictly and monitioring the blood glucose.
The product is a compound preparation of Chinese herbal drugs combined with western medicine.In view of shortage of clinical data.It is
difficulty to prove that this compound preparation can reduce or eliminate the adverse reaction of glibenciamide.The following items list the
corretative information to physicians and patients.
1.The initial dose is 5 pills and increase progresively in according to the state of illness.The maximal once dose is 10 pills and 30 pills
daily.In case with satisfactory curative effect,decrease the dose or maintain 2 times daily before breakfast and lunch.The controlled dose should
be directed by physician.
2.Poor hypoglycemic tolerance in age over 65,pay attentino to avoid the occurrence of hypoglycemic reaction.The fasting blood sugar should be
controlled in <7.8 mmol/L(140mg/dl)>and<11.1 mmol/L(200mg/dl)> 2 hours after meal.
3.The product can’t administrate with sulfaurea drugs together.
4.The product combined with the following medicines may lead to occurrence of hypoglycemia.(1)probenecid,allopurinol(for treatment of gout).(2)
alcohol(delay the metabolism of sulfaurea drugs),cimetidine,ranitidine(H-receptor blocking agent),chloramphenicol;miconazoie(antifungal
agent);anticoagulant.The sulfaurea drugs used together with clcohol may lead to abdominal pain,nausea,vomiting,headache,flush
complexion,especially used together with coumarins(anticoagutlant),the concentration of plasma were increased in both in the intial stage and
were decreased later.(3)the product can promote the isolation of sulfaurea drugs from the combination with plasma albumin such as
salicylate,colfibrales.(4)The alcohol,salicylates,ismelin,monoamine oxidase inhibitor and quindine possess hypoglycomic action itself(5)
insulin,mettermin,acarbose and insulin enhanced sensitivily agent combined with product can lead to hypoglycemia(6)?-adrenal receptor blocking
agent can interfere the increase of blood sugar during hypoglycemia and block the zymolysis of hepatic glycogen and cover the hypoglycemic
symptoms simultaneously.5.The product combined with following medicines can increase the occurrence of hyperglycemia.(1)
Glycocorticoid,estrin,thiazide(diurotic).phenytion sodium.(2) ?-adrenal receptor blocking agent can counteract athe secretion of insulin by
sulaurea drugs and lead to hyperglycemia.
6.During the period of medication,periodic inspection of the blood sugar,glucose in urine.ketone in urine,urine protein,hepatic and renal
function,hemogram and ophthalmic examination should be done.
7.Carefully used for cases with debility,high fever,nausea,vomoting,adrenocortical insufficiency or anterior pltultary hypofunction.
8.During the occurrence of hypoglycemia,the following measures should be applied(1)oral use of glucose,sweet fruit juice or sugar water
immediately in mild cases,glucose injection is applied for severe cases,and observation on the patient recover from unconsciousness.(2)glucagon
was given by subcutaneous,intramuscular or intravenous injection,in case the reappearance of hypoglycemia,glucose or diet was given after
injection,so as to guarantee the patient out of danger.

PHARMACOKINETICS
The test of pharmacokinetics showed that the blood concentration of glibenciamide increased after 30 minutes of administration and 2-3 hours
attained to highest level.
